If there’s one thing Josiah Middaugh can’t do … we haven’t found it yet. The man literally changed the game on the GoPro Mountain Games Ultimate Mountain Challenge, ensuring a lasting legacy by winning the men’s category of the event from it’s inception 10 years ago until finally deciding to take a break and focus on biking in 2017. Middaugh is more than just a biker, having placed well in the kayaking and running events which used to define the Ultimate Mountain Challenge. He’s also an XTERRA world champion, a coach for his Middaugh Coaching enterprise, an accomplished snowshoer, and a well-loved Vail local known for being a great husband and father to boot.
Middaugh’s schedule will be focused on the bike races in 2017, leaving it wide open for a new title-holder (under new rules) as we head into this year’s TriggerPoint Ultimate Mountain Challenge.
