COVID-19 POLICY

Spectators, athletes, families, dogs, and anyone who loves mountain sports, music, and lifestyle are WELCOME at the 2021 GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado.

As permitted by current State of Colorado and Eagle County guidelines, the 2021 GoPro Mountain Games is operating at 100% capacity, without any social distancing or mask requirements (except on public transportation due to current federal regulations). If you are not comfortable with this approach, although we will miss your presence, we ask you to consider not attending at this time.

PROTOCOLS & PROCEDURES

  • Face coverings at GoPro Mountain Games venues will be optional.
  • At this time, no outdoor or indoor face covering or social distancing protocols are expected to be in place for the Town of Vail during the event window, except for federal regulations requiring masks on public transportation (e.g., Town of Vail buses). Learn more.
  • Individual businesses or locations in the Town of Vail may have their own protocols which must be respected by all who attend.
  • All individuals, whether they choose to wear a face covering or not, will be welcomed and respected.

We remind everyone of the camaraderie of mountain culture and ask that all participants treat one another with kindness and respect.  Additionally, we ask that you are cooperative with event organizers, volunteers, our local businesses, and event staff at all times.

Note regarding GoPro Mountains of Music concerts at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater: Visiting artists or productions may elect to follow increased health and safety protocols which may impact staff and production crews. These protocols will not affect the general audience.

WE ASK OF YOU:

  • If you are sick or not feeling well, please stay home. Refunds will be issued to anyone unable to attend due to an illness.
  • Wash hands often and use hand sanitizer where available.

All GoPro Mountain Games participants will be asked to agree to an additional liability release waiver during the online registration process.

WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT ON-SITE IN 2021?

WE WELCOME YOU TO JOIN US AT THE 2021 EVENT AS A SPECTATOR, ATHLETE, MEDIA MEMBER, OR SPONSOR!

The nonprofit Vail Valley Foundation, which hosts the event each year, is pleased to welcome you to the 2021 GoPro Mountain Games!

What will be different?

The 2021 GoPro Mountain Games will not be exactly the same as years past. Differences include:

  • L.L.Bean Gear Town will feature fewer tents and sponsor activations than years past.
  • No climbing events will take place this year.
  • No Steep Creek Championship event will take place this year – instead, the Pacifico Gore IV Kayak Challenge will send racers down a lively stretch of Gore Creek in Vail.
  • No slackline competitions will take place this year.
  • No Outdoor Reels film series.
  • No in-person photo contest.
What will be the same?

Athletes, art, music and mountains. That’s the mantra of the GoPro Mountain Games and it’s true again in 2021.

In the daytime, expect live music and art in the streets, a celebratory atmosphere, thousands of mountain athletes competing for glory, a whole lot of happy diving dogs, and more during the day.

In the evening, three nights of live concerts will illuminate the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. Details to come.

COVID-19 WARNING:

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and customers with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By participating in a GoPro Mountain Games or Vail Valley Foundation event, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

We look forward to seeing you at OUR EVENTS soon!

We commit to do everything we can to keep our participants and staff as safe as possible while still providing the outstanding experience we are known for.
