An epic course that will test bikers’ pre-season endurance and tenacity.
Mountain bikers will start at the base of Golden Peak and race up Vail Mountain. This course will test riders’ fitness and technical skills taking you over 5.5 miles per lap. Just steps from the Village, this beautiful and challenging ride also comes with some nice perks.

NEW for 2024!
We are working to eliminate waste at the GoPro Mountain Games so all Aid Stations will be going cupless for 2024. As part of our continued focus on sustainability, participants will receive a free collapsible cup at registration that can be used at all Mountain Games bike events. All athletes should be aware of this change and come prepared for all races.

Format & Rules:
- Racers in Wave 1 will have bike plates with a yellow background.
- Racers in Wave 2 will have bike plates with a white background.
- Racers will be sent out at one-minute intervals based on their category.
- A corral will be set up east of the start/finish line for riders to stage by category prior to the race start.
- Start positions within each category will not be pre-determined, and is up to the athletes to get into the desired start location.
- One lap of the course is approximately five and a half (5.5) miles with over 1,000 ft of elevation gain. Riders will complete a set number of laps determined by their race category.
- Athletes must follow all course markings and know/understand the course map. All course markings for this event will be black signs with blue arrows.
- Along the course, athletes will have to ride on all types of terrain ranging from Forest Service access dirt roads to single track. This is a classic Colorado course with plenty of ascending and descending sections.
- Signs will be set up to direct riders and marshals will be placed in locations all along the course. It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the course and follow the signs to stay on the course. If a rider goes off course, they will be disqualified.
- The official feed zone location along the course will be marked on the course map. The feed zone is self-supported.
- All on-mountain aid stations and feed zones are going cupless for 2024. Participants will receive a free collapsible cup at registration that can be used for all the Mountain Games run events.
