OAKLEY XC Short Track

NEW FOR 2024! Just like the UCI World Cups, the GoPro Mountain Games will have an XC Short Track event to kick things off. It will be an all out battle for 20 minutes + 1 lap. The fast, fun and exciting race format will challenge riders tactically & technically on a course that features rollers, jumps, loose dirt, and open road climbs.

Get ready for some high adrenaline action at the new XC Short Track bike event at this year’s GoPro Mountain Games. Athletes will put in maximum effort on this dirt circuit on Vail Mountain as they race elbow to elbow on the 1 mile course.
NEW for 2024!
We are working to eliminate waste at the GoPro Mountain Games so all Aid Stations will be going cupless for 2024. As part of our continued focus on sustainability, participants will receive a free collapsible cup at registration that can be used at all Mountain Games bike events. All athletes should be aware of this change and come prepared for all races.

competition format:
- The course is a combination of dirt, grass with limited technical features. The course will take approximately 3-4 minutes for elites, 4-5 minutes for amateurs.
- Athletes will race for 20 minutes + 1 lap (Pro/Elite 30 minutes)
- Course preview is only available before races begin or during designated preview windows. Riders previewing and interfering with other races will be removed from the event.
- Depending on the number of registered athletes, some categories may be combined.
- Short Track results will be used to assist with seeding Saturday’s Oakley XC Mountain Bike Race.
EQUIPMENT:
The following list of equipment is required/recommended,
- Properly fitting bike helmet (Required)
- Additional protective gear (Recommended)
- Mountain bikes, Gravel and Cyclocross bikes will be allowed.
LOCATION:
Start and finish is at The Hangout in Golden Peak. Bring a friend… or 20 as this will be a very spectator friendly course.
