Event Overview

One of the more challenging and rewarding 20Ks in the nation, line up alongside some of the Vail Valley’s best trail runners and top professionals at almost 9,000 feet. This course — two laps on the 10K course — will truly test your fitness with its constant elevation changes and mountainous terrain. In addition to pride points on the line, the 20K prize purse is also up for grabs!

NEW for 2024!
We are working to eliminate waste at the GoPro Mountain Games so all on-mountain Aid Stations will be going cupless for 2024. As part of our continued focus on sustainability, participants will receive a free collapsible cup at registration that can be used at all Mountain Games run events. All athletes should be aware of this change and come prepared for all races.

Rules

RACE CATEGORIES:

Open – Men & Women

FORMAT & RULES:

Racers will be sent out in one mass wave. Start positions within the wave will not be pre-determined and it is up to the athlete to get into their desired start location.
Athletes will have to run on all types of terrain ranging from forest service access dirt roads to single track.
Athletes will race on the marked 10K course and complete 2 loops. Course markings will be black signs with red arrows.
The course map will be available one week before the race.
Athletes must follow all course markings and know/understand the course map. Athletes who deviate from the official course will be disqualified.
CUT OFF TIME: Athletes must finish the first 10K by 9:30AM to be eligible to run the full race.
Athletes that register for the 20K race will not be allowed to change to the 10K race and be eligible for prizes past the closing registration deadline. [Saturday, June 10, 6:00 PM]  .
Please see course map for aid station locations, where water and sports drinks will be provided.
- All on-mountain aid stations are going cupless for 2024. Participants will receive a free collapsible cup at registration that can be used for all the Mountain Games run events.
No tripping, shoving or horseplay will be tolerated and any athlete participating in foul play will be pulled from the course and disqualified.
Competitors who start after the posted start time will be clocked from the first wave start time. No exceptions will be made.
Racecourse closes 10 minutes after posted start time. Racers who do not start before then, won’t be able to start.
Dogs are not permitted to run in the adidas Terrex 20K Trail Run. Please enter our BFGoodrich Rocky Dog Fun Run on Thursday, June 6 if you’d like to run with your pup!
Racers who opt to not run a second lap must notify race staff at the timing tent of their intent to withdraw from the race.
