Purina Pro Plan Dog Town

TOWN OF VAIL DOG RULES

Dogs must be on a leash within the Town of Vail, in Vail Village, Lionshead Mall and on all bike paths. Also, please refrain from tethering your dog. It is unlawful in the Town of Vail and it is also unsafe for your pup to be left alone and unsupervised. Sorry, no dogs allowed on our bus system either. Lastly, be a good neighbor and pick up after your dog – don’t make us call the “poolice” on you…

GoPro Mountain Games Dog Policy & Pet FAQs

Everything you need to know before bringing your four-legged adventure buddy to GoPro Mountain Games — including pet policies, safety guidelines, water stations, and tips for making the most of your event experience together.

Yes! GoPro Mountain Games welcomes dogs throughout the event. Dogs are the only pets permitted on-site.

Service animals with proper identification are permitted at all times.

Great! We’re excited to welcome you and your furry friend to GoPro Mountain Games.

All visiting dogs must:

  • Be current on vaccinations (Rabies, DAPPV, Bordetella, and Leptospirosis)
  • Be well-socialized and free of health concerns
  • Be up to date on flea and tick prevention
  • Wear appropriate identification, including collars and tags

For their safety and comfort, dogs must be at least 6 months old to attend.

All dogs must remain on a leash at all times while visiting GoPro Mountain Games.

Leashes must:

  • Be 6 feet or shorter
  • Not be retractable

Due to crowd size and safety considerations, retractable leashes are not permitted.

You know your dog best, so please review all event details to ensure this experience is a good fit for your pet.

With warm summer temperatures expected during the event, keeping dogs safe and comfortable is our top priority. Water bowls, shaded areas throughout the venue, and the Purina Pro Plan Recovery Lounge in Vail Village will be available to help dogs stay cool and hydrated.

Signs of overheating to watch for:

  • Excessive panting
  • Heavy or forceful breathing
  • Low energy or unusual fatigue
  • Slowed movement or reluctance to walk
  • Lowered tail
  • Rapid heartbeat

If you notice signs of overheating, move your dog to a shaded area immediately and provide water.

If you have any concerns about bringing your dog, please consult your veterinarian before attending.

Yes. Water stations for both dogs and humans will be available throughout the event grounds, including at:

  • The Bulleit Hangout
  • BFGoodrich Gear Town
  • Nature Valley Mountain Plaza
  • Purina Pro Plan Dog Town

A licensed veterinarian will be on-site throughout the events to assist with any medical concerns.

Information about nearby emergency veterinary clinics will also be available if additional care is needed.

Pet owners should watch for these common signs of stress or anxiety:

  • Avoiding eye contact or turning away
  • Squinting, “hard blinks,” or showing the whites of the eyes (“whale eye”)
  • Lip licking or tongue flicking
  • Panting when not hot or active
  • Ears pinned back or tail tucked low
  • Leaning away or disengaging from interaction

If your dog appears stressed:

  • Move away from crowds, noise, or other triggers
  • Find a quieter, calmer area to decompress
  • Allow your dog to re-engage at their own pace

Even a small amount of distance from a stressful situation can make a big difference in helping your dog feel more comfortable.

Please note that dogs are not permitted on local buses during GoPro Mountain Games.

If you are attending the event with your dog, please plan alternative transportation options in advance.
