Open – Men / Women
COMPETITION FORMAT & RULES:
All racers will start and finish the race in the same location in Mountain Plaza in Vail Village.
Each wave capped at fifty (50) participants; Total Pepi’s Face-Off field is one hundred (100) runners.
Racers will be sent out in one mass start per wave. Start positions will not be pre-determined and it is up to the athlete to get into desired location.
Objective is to run as many laps up and down Pepi’s Face trail as possible in 30 minutes. Clock will start when runners cross starting line. First lap will start when runners cross the lap line (to be clearly marked day-of race). Athletes’ laps will be counted by timers each time athlete crosses lap line. Once thirty (30) minutes have passed, horn will sound, and runners must finish current lap and cross the start/finish line.
Results will place competitors in each category by number of laps completed and then time back (see 2017 results for additional detail).
Athletes are permitted to wear protective gloves and/or padding and use trekking poles if they so wish. All other accessory equipment must be approved by race directors no less than 24 hours before Wave 1 start time.
No tripping, shoving or horseplay will be tolerated and any athlete participating in foul play will be pulled from the course and disqualified.
No dogs will be allowed to participate in Pepi’s Face-Off.
