Take a hike that you can feel extra good about at the 20th anniversary GoPro Mountain Games this June
The 20th anniversary GoPro Mountain Games return to Vail, Colorado, June 7-12 – featuring six days of competition, art, music and the mountain lifestyle we all love. Among the new events this year is the Take a Hike for YouthPower365, a moderate 3.65 mile hike with interactive stops along the way that is perfect for friends and families on Sunday, June 12, at 1:30 p.m.
Here are five reasons to sign up to Take a Hike for YouthPower365 at the 20th anniversary GoPro Mountain Games:
1. Support youth in Eagle County
Most importantly, it is a hike you can feel extra good about! Money raised goes toward YouthPower365, the Vail Valley Foundation’s local education nonprofit that provides programs from early childhood to college and career that help youth reach their full potential. YouthPower365 supports Eagle County youth and families every step of the way, and so can you. The cost to register is $20, with fundraising benchmarks and prizes also available. Incentives will be received for individual fundraising totals at $100, $500, $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000. The top individual fundraiser and top team fundraiser will also receive prizes. Sign up now and get your fundraising going!
2. Get in on the action
The GoPro Mountain Games attracts thousands of athletes each year, from world champions to weekend warriors and even first-timers. The Take a Hike for YouthPower365 event is an easy way to get off the sidelines and into the Mountain Games.
3. Dress to impress, and win prizes
Make your mark on the programs at YouthPower365 and along the trail by hiking in an individual or team costume. Prizes will be awarded for Best Team Costume, Best Adult Individual Costume and Best Child Individual Costume. Take some photos along the way, post them on Instagram with the hashtag #goproMTNgames anytime during the hike to be entered in the contest. Only registered participants will be eligible to win. While the Hike registration does not include an athlete gift bag, there will be plenty of prizes and swag for everyone, including Mountain Games gear and prize packs featuring products from our partners at GoPro, YETI, and Oakley
4. Just have fun
Whether you’re participating as an individual or with friends and family, you can look forward to fun stops along the way that tie in art, athletes, mountains and music. Start your hike out right with team face painting by amazing makeup artist and beautiful human, Abby Wren, enjoy an on-mountain dance party with adventure traveler/TV personality and overall ball of sunshine Ariel Tweto, take a quick pit stop to add to the art wall with hike host and master of stoke, Wade Holland! For the adults, you can look forward to a celebratory beer at the end.
5. Your dog wants you to get outside
Everything is better when you can participate with your dog! Similar to the GoPro Rocky Dog Trail Run, all dogs must be on a leash at all times throughout the hike, participants are limited to one pooch per human and owners must scoop their dog’s poop! Bonus treats if your dog helps your fundraising efforts!
Whether you’re just looking to get in on the action of the GoPro Mountain Games or you’re looking to raise some serious cash for YouthPower365 to continue supporting youth in Eagle County, the Take a Hike event is for you!
