This event is big, exciting, and yes, it can feel a little overwhelming with all the volunteer roles, from helping run the event behind the scenes to cheering on athletes in the competitions. The good news? There are tons of ways to have fun while being part of this unique experience, and you really can’t go wrong! 

We’ve prepared this guide to help you create your best volunteer adventure. Some roles may fit your personality a little better than others, and that’s where our quick, fun Volunteer Quiz comes in. In just one minute, it’ll help you discover which experience paths match your vibe. Once you’ve explored your paths (or if you already know what sounds fun), pick 1–2 experience paths below and then jump in to choose your actual shifts in Rosterfy.

Feel the energy, support athletes, and be in the thick of the competitions. 

  • Bike Events – marshal courses, aid stations, timing, scoring, athlete support 
  • Run Events – course marshaling, aid stations, timing, results 
  • Climbing – athlete check-in, timing, scoring * 
  • Speed Climbing – timing, athletes line up, clip athletes onto auto-belay 
  • Fish – scoring, results, competition support * 
  • Whitewater – support whitewater competition, athlete and competition support 

Why this path rocks: You’ll be active, outside, and at the center of the action.

Help the event run smoothly, sustainably, and leave a lasting difference. 

  • Green Team – support waste diversion and recycling, eco-education 
  • Banner Crew – set up & remove banners, windfence, event signage, hands-on outdoor role 

Why this path rocks: You’ll make a visible impact on the environment and event operations. Hands-on and highly appreciated.  


Love meeting people, greeting spectators, and being the friendly face of the event? 

  • Venue Greeter – greet and inform spectators, assist with event navigation 
  • Info Booth – provide general information to athletes, spectators, and volunteers 
  • Information Crew – roaming support, pedestrian assistance, event guidance 
  • Kids Activities Assistance – support kids’ activities sign-up and waiver 
  • Volunteer F&B – The Eatery – assist with hospitality, restock and prep lunch boxes, lift up to 15 lbs 

Why this path rocks: You’ll be interactive, high-energy, and the smiling face people remember. 


Get moving, be on your feet, and enjoy the outdoors while helping the event. 

  • Athlete Lounge – check wristbands, distribute snacks, set up athlete areas 
  • Awards – organize and manage prizes for competition winners 
  • Disc Golf – course setup/tear down, hands-on, lift up to 20 lbs 
  • Mud Run – obstacle setup & teardown, hands-on outdoor role 

Why this path rocks: You’ll stay active, hands-on, and enjoy a dynamic work environment. 


Prefer structure, computers, or indoor support? These roles keep the event running smoothly. 

  • Product – inventory, sort, and distribute products and VIP bags, lift up to 10 lbs 
  • Volunteer HQ – volunteer check-in/out, credential distribution, computer skills required 
  • Transportation – drive VVF vehicles, deliver food & supplies, MVR required (mostly indoors) 
  • VIP Security – check tickets and assist with VIP hospitality 

Why this path rocks: You’ll be essential to event operations, indoors, organized, and structured.
