Athletes to Watch: Tara Richardson

In 2019, 27-year-old Tara Richardson beat her nearest competitor by nearly a full minute to win the 10K Spring Runoff. She barely took a deep breath before going on to bust out five full laps and then some up and down the wall-like Pepi’s Face to land another victory in Pepi’s Face-Off. Later that summer she won the Leadville Trail Marathon and then was among the nation’s elite runners to compete in the 2020 Olympic Trials.

She’s only taken things to the next level in the meantime. She moved to Aspen and started a position at Aspen Valley Hospital as a Cardiac and Oncology Therapist. She’s averaged about 70 miles a week this spring running on whatever dirt is melted out near her home in Snowmass. In addition to defending her titles in the Adidas Terrex 10K Spring Runoff and Junk Brands Pepi’s Face-Off, she is headed back to Leadville later this summer to tackle the Leadville 100.
