Time to get training: Dani Moreno

We continue our Time to Get Training Series with trail runner extraordinaire Dani Moreno.

In addition to making an appearance on the Mountain Games 10K podium and competing in international trail races, the 27-year-old Californian’s other hobbies include everything from climbing to snowboarding, spearfishing to skydiving. Needless to say, Moreno, who recently moved from Santa Barbara to Mammoth Lakes, Calif., has been no slouch during these pandemic “down” months.

She’s put her foot speed to the test in a handful of burly races throughout the last year and has seriously raised some eyebrows. To be more specific, she’s walked away a champion in every single competition she’s done in the last 15 months. She won last year’s USATF Trail Half-Marathon and even beat most of the men, finishing third overall. This spring, she’s setting the place on fire. She set course records in the Canyons Endurance 25K and at the Peterson Ridge Rumble 20-miler.

“The biggest lesson I am taking from last year is that being in shape and being ready to go at any time will set me up for opportunities as they arise,” she says.

Did you hear that? She’s ready to go. Again … she’s been undefeated in every trail race for 15 months and counting!
